Inside Secrets to Make Your Home Business Succeed

What to Do When You Are Laid Off

March 28th, 2009 · No Comments · Blog

Being laid off is unfortunately a reality in this economy. First off, do not take it personally. Remember, that a business’ number one priority is to make money. If the company can not make money then the company can’t exist to employ people. If the company is scaling back or not making as much money–then people, or expenses, must be let go.Here’s what to do next.

Though this may seem like a very harsh way to look at it, it is reality and something we must accept if we live in a capitalist society.

Remember, you are not the only one laid off. It’s not like you were “fired”. It was simply the situation at hand that a failing company had to deal with. It’s not the end of the world, you can bounce back. And now is the time to take matters into your own hands– it’s time to run your own business.

When you run your own business, no one can lay you off. You make all the important business decisions.
Take a little time to think things through after a layoff and evaluate all the things that you would have done differently if you were your boss of the company. If you have the luxury to be able to take a vacation and get away, do it. You can write it off as a business trip when you plan your own business =)

After you have your emotions sorted out, get cracking on some ideas. Hopefully you can find some good ones here!
